Presentations
1 presentation
a. presenting; being presented
b. thing presented
2 manner or quality of presenting
3 demonstration or display; lecture
You will notice presentation can take the form of either a noun or a verb; it can be defined as a demonstration of a product or a concept, a display of concept, thoughts or product offerings. Present (ation) also involves a sense of "quality", or edge, something distinctive.
We subscribe to this definition. We interpret it further, to focus on the Quality or Edge of a presentation of concepts or products. A presentation must communicate well, to a variety of people. As we state in our communication philosophy in the Product Management and training sections it is vital to appeal to more than one Cognitive Style. Which is why at a minimum, we interpret and treat concepts three ways:
1. Text, in sequential narrative form
2. Graphical in simple and clear visuals
3. Metaphorically, or by example, including the use of photography
We also know there are two basic approaches to preparing your presentations:
1. Adding "Spin", and then creative dressing to your ideas.
2. Interpreting the output after some acquired knowledge and analysis of the content.
Every agency and consulting firm has a process they use to build the foundation for creative thinking. Ours is somewhat different in that it is based in product management principles. It considers the technical information generated in the typical market preparation or commercialization process. It considers that audiences include executives, sales, financial, support and service people. It considers that they all need a somewhat different twist on the content.
In summary, this a MarketGenesys Presentation stresses the importance of communicating a message to a variety of thinking styles, job descriptions and basic motivations. We also offer choices of the technologies used in presenting, as you will see in each of the detailed sections.
